A man was arrested by Laguna Beach police on Wednesday evening. He is suspected of robbing fast-food joints after two failed stickups. At 8 p.m. Wednesday, employees of Jack in the Box on South Coast Highway reported an armed robbery had just occurred. The suspect allegedly pulled through the drive through and pointed a handgun at employees while demanding money from the cash register. The suspect left without getting any money from the Jack in the Box. After that attempt, he tried robbing the Village Market Gas station. The suspect allegedly entered the gas station market wearing a plastic bag and pulled out the hand gun ordering the clerk to open the register and give him all the cash. Sgt. Eric Lee pulled up to the gas station at that point and the suspect exited the business without getting any cash.

David Brian Matteson, 48, is suspected in a string of 30 robberies of fast-food establishments in various cities. After the police interviewed the suspect they determined that he was the primary suspect in numerous armed robberies.
