Teenage applies for job then steals from hobby store

A teenager walked into a hobby shop to apply for a job, and after dropping off his resume he grabbed a $129 Airsoft gun and walked out the door, police said.

The 17-year-old said "Honestly, I wasn't planning on stealing anything," he told KTLA-TV. "I was actually trying to get a job. And... what can I say? I'm a teenager, that's stupid."

According to Sgt. Darren Harris, the teenager did present a resume to a store employee, but the worker told him applicants must be at least 18 years old.

"The subject said, 'that sucks,' and wandered around the store," Harris said.

The investigation is ongoing, Harris said. The teen had not been arrested.
