Los Angeles police today released the name of the officer who shot an armed man last week in Winnetka.
Bruce Oakley, a West Valley patrol officer, shot an armed man in Winnetka on july 19, 2012.
Oakley was responding to a battery call on Welby Way about 4:45 a.m. July 19.
A man told him that his roommate was inside and when the officers went to a bedroom, the man, 49 year old Donald Warner, opened the door and quickly closed it. The officers forced their way in and according to reports the man turned toward them with a revolver in his hand, which is when Oakley fired.
Warner was treated at the hospital and then released and booked on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
He is being held on a $105,000 bail.
